Wir haben selten ein Pferd mit einem so ausgeprägten Mutterinstinkt gesehen, wie Heyla. Sie ist immer aufmerksam, liebevoll und doch bestimmt. Sie stellt klare Regeln auf und verlangt bedingungslos ihre Einhaltung, auf den ersten Blick möchte man glauben sie piesackt ihre Fohlen viel mehr als andere Mütter, wer Heylas Fohlen bei der Entwicklung beobachtet wird aber sehen, dass sie alle die Regeln ihrer Mutter sehr schnell verstehen und ihnen dann problemlos gehorchen.
Aber auch die anderen Fohlen lernen von Heylas Erziehung, sie ist in der Stutenherde immer die erste, die Fohlen vor Dummheiten bewahrt oder für Fehler rügt. In unserer Herde ist sie inzwischen absolut nicht mehr weg zu denken und wir sind immer wieder begeistert, was für wohl erzogene Fohlen wir dank Heyla haben.
Auch mit anderen Pferden ist sie sehr resolut. Manchmal vergisst sie dabei ihre Größe und musste gegen Warmblüter auch schon mal was weg stecken. Denn in ihrem Kopf ist Heyla ganz groß und sieht garnicht ein, wieso sie vor Großpferden zurück weichten soll.
Unterm Sattel haben wir Heyla noch nicht erlebt. Im Umgang zeigt sie aber, dass sie sehr lernwillig ist und neue Aufgaben schnell versteht.
