Dustin Hoffmann, ein Friesenhengst mit ansprechendem Äußerem und einem Namen, der oftmals zum Schmunzeln anregt. Doch vielleicht verbirgt sich hinter diesem Namen ja auch ein Stück weit genau das, was man vermutet, auch wenn es auf den ersten Blick nicht so aussehen mag: Ein Stück Menschlichkeit. So hat der Rappe zwar doppelt so viele Beine wie wir Menschen und sieht auch sonst aus wie ein Pferd, aber dennoch weiß der Hengst einen regelmäßig in Erstaunen zu versetzen. Oft scheint es, als würde er einen genau verstehen und zwar nicht nur die Gefühle, sondern als könnte er jedem Wort, das man sagt, eine gewisse Bedeutung zuordnen. Dustin ist auffallend sensibel. Mag er jemanden, so stupst er diesen beispielsweise sanft an, wenn er merkt, dass er traurig ist, kann aber genauso jemanden den er nicht leiden kann ignorieren oder unauffällig doch deutlich machen, wie er von ihm denkt. Unter dem Sattel weiß sich der Friese meist zu benehmen und zeigt schöne Grundgangarten. Noch dazu benimmt sich Dustin nur in der Freiheit, also auf der Koppel, hengstig und setzt auch sonst nur dann seinen eigenen Willen durch, wenn kein Mensch da ist, der ihn um etwas anderes bittet. Dabei ist es wichtig zu beachten, dass der Schwarze lieber Bitten erfüllt als Befehle ausführt. Von Gerten oder lauter Stimme ist daher abzuraten, sofern Dustin sich benimmt. Nur wenn er wirklich rum spinnt sollte man überlegen zu solchen Mitteln zu greifen.
