Ein Tinker als Westernpferd? Erfolgreich? JA - richtig gehört! Spook ist ein unglaublich tolles Westernpferd noch dazu. Mit großzügigem Temperament kann er zwar manchmal anstrengend sein, doch genau diese Energie macht ihn eben anders als man es von einem schweren Pony erwartet. Beim Reiten ist er im Grunde gehorsam und willig, wenn der Reiter sich durchsetzen kann. Bei anderen Pferden ist er sehr dominant und ist auch gerne in Streit verwickelt. Während des Trainings oder an der Hand lässt er sich händeln, auf der Weide und im Stall ist es allerdings ratsam ihn nur mit den gleichen Pferden zu umgeben, die ihn bereits als Führung anerkennen. Bei Stuten gebärdet er sich unheimlich und der Hengst wird dann zu einem richtigen Hingucker. Unglaublich das ein Irish Tinker solche Ausmaße überhaupt annehmen kann.
Aber bei der Arbeit lässt er sich durchaus auch konzentriert arbeiten. Seine Fertigkeit liegt ganz klar im Pleasure, wo er auch Pleasure Driving gefahren wird. Trail macht ihm Spaß und er gibt sich große Mühe, mehr als LK 3 wird da aber nicht drin sein. Er geht versammelt ohne das der Reiter viel tun muss, trägt den Kopf entspannt und lässt sich durch nichts ablenken. Wenn er einmal in der Arbeit drin ist, kann nicht mal eine Stute seine Konzentration noch stören. Im Gelände ist der tritt- und schrecksicher, allerdings nur, wenn er die Führung hat. Pferde vor ihm oder wenn ihn einer überholen will macht den Hengst unberechenbar. Dann wird ihm ziemlich egal was der Reiter will, denn Spook will vorne sein! Als Deckhengst hat er noch nie Schwierigkeiten gemacht und braucht keine lange Anlaufzeit. An der Hand oder im Natursprung ist dem Hengst beides lieb. Und obwohl er den Natursprung kennt, bockt er sogar noch auf unseren Dummy!
