Vom Aussehen her kommt der kleine Fuchs Nachtwind exakt nach seiner Mutter Sue, die als Schulpferd bei uns auf Erlengrund steht. Wobei Blesse und weiße Stiefel ja auch durchaus das Markenzeichen von seinem Vater Nightshade sind, aber die Rappfarbe scheint sich diesmal nicht so gut durchgesetzt zu haben. Das Aussehen ist allerdings auch schon die einzige Ähnlichkeit, die wir bislang feststellen konnten, denn vom Verhalten her ist der kleine Hengst weder so ruhig und gelassen wie seine Mutter, noch so angeberisch und temperamentvoll wie sein Vater. Nachtwind scheint viel eher ein kleines Sensibelchen zu sein, denn er erschrickt schnell und flüchtet dann sofort in den sicheren Schutz seiner Mutter, deren Seite er sowieso nur sehr selten verlässt. Viel lieber bleibt er bei ihr und lässt sich nur ab und zu mal von den anderen Fohlen zum spielen animieren. Von alleine fängt er ein Spiel allerdings nicht an.
Auch im Umgang mit Menschen ist der hübsche Fuchs sehr zurückhaltend und scheu. Vielleicht liegt es an dem schweren Start den er ins Leben hatte (er lag verkehrt herum und musste unter Hilfe geholt werden), oder vielleicht ist er auch einfach ein bisschen schüchterner als die anderen Pferde, zumindest ist Nachtwind der Erste der sich verkürmelt und der Letzte der vorsichtig hinter seiner Mutter wieder hervorkommt. Er braucht seine Zeit um warm zu werden und reagiert auf Druck sehr empfindsam und mit Flucht, wenn er die Möglichkeit dazu hat. Bei ihm sollte man daher sehr viel Geduld und Ruhe mitbringen um ihn weder einzuschüchtern, noch zu erschrecken.
