Eine lange Ponylippe macht sich unauffällig auf die Suche. Zielsicher wird der Putzkasten aufgeklappt und mit 2, 3 schnellen Bewegungen die Leckerlies rausgeklaubt … „Rei, Nein!“ wie vom Blitz getroffen zuckt Rei zusammen, reißt den Kopf hoch und schaut mit groß aufgerissenen Augen seine Pflegerin an. „Ich? Aber iiiiich würde doch nie etwas tun!“ scheint sein Blick zu sagen. Ein weiteres Mal war der nimmersatte Hengst einen winzigen Augenblick unbeobachtet und schon hat er sich selbstständig gemacht. Im Umgang mit diesem gewitzten Ponyhengst absolut keine Seltenheit. Denn Rei ist aufgeweckt und spitzfindig und er lässt keine Gelegenheit ungenutzt, sich selbstständig zu machen. Etwas zu entdecken gibt es immer, der junge Hengst ist an allem interessiert was um ihn herum passiert, fürchtet sich vor nichts und muss grundsätzlich alles selbst ausprobieren. Volle Aufmerksamkeit, das fordert er von seinem Reiter. Abgesehen davon ist er im Training aber erstaunlich unproblematisch, er gibt sich immer viel Mühe und selbst bei Reiterfehlern versucht er noch alles richtig zu machen. Die Art der Arbeit ist ihm dabei herzlich egal, er ist im Dressurviereck ebenso bemüht wie im Gelände oder vor der Kutsche.
