Arkadius ist nicht klassisch träge und stur, wie man es von einem Fjord erwartet. Bedingt durch die Tatsachen, dass man es nun einmal mit einem Hengst zu tun hat und dass er von sich aus ein bisschen temperamentvoller ist, bringt der graue Hengst eine gesunde Grundmotivation mit. Die wird dann dazu verwendet, auf der Weide mal Gas zu geben, einer Stute besonders nachhaltig nachzubrummen oder eben unterm Sattel das Zünglein auf der Waagschale zu sein.
Im Umgang verhält er sich sehr vorbildlich, in die Hände von Kindern sollte man ihn dennoch nicht lassen. Wer den Kraftbolzen zu händeln weiß, kann auch seine Energie in die richtigen Bahnen lenken und aus dem Hengst, der dann doch so manches Mal seinen eigenen Kopf hat auch einiges an Leistung hervorholen. Können tut er auf jeden Fall etwas, aber er testet doch gerne immer wieder mal an, ob er den Reiter nicht doch irgendwie überlisten kann. Oft gipfelt das sogar in Übermotivation und er entzieht sich eben um dann doch mit sehr viel Schwung eine Übung vorweg zu nehmen. Bietet er sich von selbst so dreist an, muss man mehr abfragen „Du meinst, du kannst was? Gut, dann mach jetzt auch!“
