Dermárá ist vom Charakter eine sehr liebevolle, anfängertaugliche und menschenbezogene Stute mit viel Energie, die man abzubauen wissen sollte. Schon in ihrer Ausbildung zeigte sie viel Leistungsbereitschaft und versuchte es ihrem Reiter immer und überall Recht zu machen. Ob nun Training auf dem Platz oder Ausritte im Gelände. Immer ist sie voll dabei und das mit sehr viel Freude. Mit anderen Pferden versteht sie sich in der Regel auch ganz gut, es sei denn es geht ums Fressen oder um andere Vorteile. Dann kann sich die sonst so soziale Isländerstute auch schon einmal recht frech werden und sich vordrängeln. Zurückweisen lässt sie sich jedoch nicht so leicht, was ihr auch einen ziemlich hohen Rang verschafft hat.
