Patches ist ein ungeheurer Sturkopf, der ihr oft im Weg steht. Sie braucht viel Überzeugung bis sie tut, was von ihr verlangt wird und das macht der Umgang nicht sehr einfach mit ihr. Eine weitere negative Eigenschaft ist, dass sie noch viel Erziehung braucht, weil man das wohl bisher versäumt hat. In der Herde erkämpft sie sich immer eine hohe Position, da sie dominant gegenüber Pferden ist. Wenn es ums Fressen geht, neigt sie schon mal zum Betteln und schnüffelt auch gerne mal an Taschen herum. Konnte man die Stute überzeugen das zu tun, was man von ihr fordert, kann sie unterm Sattel ein ganz passables Westernpferd sein, das auch mitdenken kann. Das kommt bei Patches jedoch eher weniger vor, weil sie nicht so aufmerksam durch Leben geht.
