Don Camillo ist ein eher ruhiger Zeitgenosse. Der Rapphengst ist im Umgang sehr artig und brav und lässt sich sogar von Kindern händeln. Er ist immer sehr bedacht bei dem was er tut und denkt mit. Auch in fremder Umgebung lässt er sich nicht aus seiner Ruhe bringen und ist immer eine Lebensversicherung. Zu langweilig sollte ihm aber nicht werden. Stundenlanges warten auf dem Transporter rächt sich bei ihm. Einige Ponyflausen hat er trotzdem im Kopf. Entweder zerkaut er seinen Strick an dem er festgebunden ist oder er ist als Junghengst auch schon das ein oder andere Mal ausgebrochen.
Beim Reiten ist Don manchmal etwas zu ruhig. Man muss wissen wie man ihn motiviert und das sollte man nicht machen in dem man ihm immer wieder die selben Aufgaben stellt. Don möchte beschäftigt werden und mitarbeiten dürfen. So hatte er es beim Springen auch sehr schnell raus wo er am liebsten Abspringen möchte um möglichst leicht den Sprung zu überwinden. Unroutinierten Reitern hilft das natürlich sehr. Im Viereck ist das mit der Motivation so eine Sache. Er macht zwar alles super lieb mit und beugt sich auch seinem Schicksal, aber wenn es nur ums schlichte Lektionen reiten geht, lässt er schnell mal die Hufe schlurfen. Ganz anders im Gelände. Dort ist Don aufmerksam und interessiert. Er liebt es ausreiten zu gehen und wenn es nur mal die kleine Runde nach getaner Arbeit ist.
