Er ist ein Hengst mit lupenreinem Pedigree: Black Benetton begeistert schon seit dem Fohlenalter jeden interessierten Ponyzüchter mit seiner Ausstrahlung und natürlich der hoch interessanten Genkombination auf dem Papier. Über seinen Halbblut-Vater Black Jack hat er einen gehörigen Schuss Vollblut abbekommen, der sich in seiner Sensibilität und seinem Temperament auch deutlich niederschlägt. Black Benetton ist daher auch nicht unbedingt ein Hengst für jedermann, denn er bringt sehr viel Leistungswillen mit und möchte jeden Tag etwas tun.
Über die Mutterseite hat Benetton die bekannten Cherokee-Linien im Pedigree, derzeit eigentlich das beste, was ein Pferd in der Zucht mitgeben kann. Seine Mutter Marcella ist mit ihm nun vierfache Hengstmutter und hat unter anderem den todschicken Toulouse von Tarantino gebracht, der zur Zeit schon aktiv auf den Sundancer Stables deckt. Marcella stammt ab von Cherokees Picadero, der wiederum ein prächtiges Beispiel moderner Reitpferdezucht ist. Er stellte Hengste wie den HLP-Sieger Pajero, der mittlerweile schon einige eigene Nachkommen gezeugt hat. Über Dark Impact kommen wir dann wieder auf die Hengststation Johannsen - somit ist seine Blutlinie in sich sehr gefestigt und bietet wenig Spielraum für Streuung in der Vererbung.
